About Agnipath Scheme
From now on, The only way to adopt it in the army is through
the Agnipath Scheme. Personnel recruited under this scheme are called Agniveers, a new military rank. This arrangement is expected to be implemented
in September 2022. Agniveers has a tenure of four years, which includes six months of training
followed by 3.5 years of commitment.
The Indian government will recruit 45,000 to 50,000 people through this
system each year. In September 2022 alone, 46,000 young people should be
recruited under this program.

Eligibility Criteria of Agnipath Indian Navy SSR Recruitment
Age Limit: Candidates age should not be less than 17 years 6
months and not more than 23 years. They should be born between 01 May 2002
– 31 Oct 2005 (Both dates inclusive).
Educational Qualification: Candidates should have passed in
10+2 examination with Maths & Physics and atleast one of these
subjects: - Chemistry/Biology/Computer Science from the Boards of School
Education recognised by Ministry of Education, Govt. of India.
Other Criteria for Indian Navy Agnipath SSR Vacancy
Martial Status: Only unmarried Indian male and female
candidates are eligible for enrolment as Agniveer. Agniveers shall
not be permitted to marry during their entire tenure of four
years.
Age Relaxation: The one-time upper age
limit has been increased from 21 years to 23 years for the
recruitment year 2022-23.

Pay Scale & Terminal Benefit of Agnipath Indian Navy SSR Vacancy
Individuals enrolled under Agnipath Scheme will be paid an Agniveer
package of Rs.30,000/- per month with a fixed yearly increment. In
addition, Risk and Hardship, Dress and Travel allowances will be
paid.
On completion of the engagement period of four years, Agniveers will be
eligible to receive ‘Seva Nidhi’ package, which shall comprise their
contribution (into the Agniveer Corpus Fund) and matching contribution
from the Government and interest on the accumulated amount.

Disadvantages
- No pilot scheme to evaluate the plan beforehand.
- No pension benefits and lifelong medical benefits like their predecessor.
- It will weaken military culture, professionalism, and combat spirit.
- 7-8 years are needed to prepare a soldier for combat.
- Agniveers will be cautious and most of them will be seeking for a second job.
- May result in the militarization of society and the annual unemployment of 35,000 adolescents with war experience.
