Gauhati University PG Admission | GUPGET Application Form


An official notification has been released by Gauhati University. It's to notify that Gauhati University is going to conduct Post Graduate Entrance Test (GUPGET) 2023 for admission into Post Graduate courses in Arts (MA), Science (MSc) and Commerce (MCom) in Gauhati University. GUPGET Online Application will start from 5th June 2023.

Students who are interested and eligible may apply by using the online Post Graduation (PG) admission form fill up portal launched by Gauhati University.

Eligibility Criteria


Eligibility criteria for admission in to various master degree courses under Gauhati University are as follows:

Master of Arts (MA) & Master of Science (MSc) Course

  • B.A/B.Sc./B.Com. (in 10+2+3 pattern) with Major/honours courses in the concerned subject or
  • B.A./B.Sc./B.Com. (in 10+2+3 pattern) with a general pass course with at least 45% Marks in the concerned subject as well as in aggregate or equivalent CGPA.

Master of Commerce (MCom) Course


  • B.A/B.Sc./B.Com. (in 10+2+3 pattern) with Major/honours courses in the concerned subject or# B.A./B.Sc./B.Com. (in 10+2+3 pattern) with a general pass course with at least 45% Marks in the concerned subject as well as in aggregate or equivalent CGPA.
  • 45% Marks is to be calculated on the basis of marks obtained in Part I and Part II of the (2+1) pattern and part I, part II and Part III of the (1+1+1) pattern.

GU PG Common Entrance Test (GUPGET)


There will be a Common Entrance Test for admission into different Post Graduate Courses to be conducted by Gauhati University (both for the University Departments and the Affiliated Colleges of the University) for the session 2022-23. Admissions will be based strictly on the performance and eligibility criteria of the Entrance Examination.

The Offline Entrance Test will be conducted in the month of 19th July to 21st July 2022.

Reservation of Seats for Gauhati University PG Admission


Reservation of Seats for GU PG Courses are as under

  • Scheduled Caste: 7%
  • Scheduled Tribes (Plains): 10%
  • Scheduled Tribes (Hill): 5%
  • OBC & MOBC: 15%
  • Differently Abled: 3% (for each Discipline of Faculty)
  • Sons and daughters of permanent GU Employees: 1 Seat in each dept with intake capacity 40 or less and 2 seats when the intake is more than 40 students.
  • Fringe Village: 10 seats
  • GU Ex-Employees: 5 seats
  • Ex- Defense: As per EC resolution
  • Moran Community of Assam: 2 seats.
  • Extra Curricular: 1 seat in each department.
  • NCC & NSS: 5 seats.
  • Economically Weaker Section (EWS): 10% Reservation from unreserved category in each subject.

NOTE - In Admission into the Traditional Program of Study, 50% of total intake will be reserved for Gauhati University Students. The remaining 50% will be reserved for other than Gauhati University Students.

Application Fee of GU PG Admission 2022


Application fee for Gauhati University PG Admission is Rs.400/- . In addition to that the candidate has to pay examination fee.
